The NBA is set to ultimately impose their in-game flopping violation during this year’s Summer League, multiple reports confirmed Tuesday.
A flop, based on the assessment of the officials, will hand the opposing team a one-shot reward on the free throw line and a possession of the ball. The player who commits the violation will be slapped with a technical foul, but the call won’t add up to his personal fouls nor ejection count.
The officials won’t be necessarily required to stop the live play for flopping violations that players will act.
The league’s board of governors will meet soon this month to decide on any rule changes about flopping heading to the 2023-24 campaign.
