The NBA is planning on investigating potential tampering violations involving the signing-and-trading of guard Lonzo Ball from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Chicago Bulls and guard Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors to the Miami Heat, per a report from Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
All teams under investigation are subject to a maximum fine of $10 million, suspension of team executives, forfeiture of draft picks and the voiding of contracts.
Last off-season, the Milwaukee Bucks were stripped of a second round pick for tampering with Bogdan Bogdanovic; who ultimately signed with the Atlanta Hawks.
The NBA has made a point in recent years to crack down on teams that blatantly negotiate with free-agents prior to the start of free-agency.
This investigation is just the latest in a growing string of such cases.
