The NBA has officially granted the disabled player exception request of the Chicago Bulls for Lonzo Ball in the upcoming 2023-24 season, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Ball, who will miss the next NBA campaign, has a $20.4MM salary for next season. With the DPE approval made by the league, the Bulls have a chance to add any players and free agents using half of the point guard’s earnings ($10.2MM).
The 25-year-old point man hasn’t played any game since January last year due to knee issues. In March, he underwent a cartilage transplant surgery.
From the four-year deal he inked worth $80MM with Chicago, Ball still has a final year left for 2024-25 via player option.
