The NBA has denied an assertion from Bill Simmons that the league is currently working to expand to Las Vegas and Seattle with a timeline of the next five to six years.
In a statement to KING 5 on Wednesday, a league spokesperson flatly said, “There is no truth to it.”
However, conversations continue and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell is actively engaging.
“The odds are high,” Harrell said on Wednesday. “We’re very intentional about it. I chase down rumors and I chase down actual people in a position to make that happen. I feel good about our opportunity.”
The NBA allowed the Seattle SuperSonics to relocate to Oklahoma City in 2008.
