The Detroit Pistons lost their 22nd game consecutive game on Friday. This one wasn’t close, as the Philadelphia 76ers ran away with 32-point victory over the Pistons.
Following the game, Detroit coach Monty Williams didn’t try to mask his dejection at yet another loss.
“It’s deflating. It is what it is. When you hold a team like that to 26 points (in the 1Q), you have to capitalize and make some shots,” Williams said.
The Pistons are now four games from tying the longest single-season losing streak in NBA history. That dubious record is shared by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers at 26 straight losses. The overall record-long losing streak is held by the Sixers at 28 games spread across the end of the 2014-15 campaign and start of the 2015-16 season.
