Mikey Williams exited a San Diego County courtroom with a grin on his face last Thursday. He successfully negotiated a favorable agreement with prosecutors regarding his shooting case, sparing him from any jail time.
The 19-year-old, committed to playing basketball at the University of Memphis, was initially confronted with several serious charges, including five counts of assault with a firearm and one count of shooting at an occupied vehicle.
These charges stemmed from his arrest in April, relating to his alleged involvement in a shooting incident outside his Jamul, Calif. residence on March 27.
However, in the recent agreement reached with prosecutors, Williams pleaded guilty to a single count of making criminal threats, effectively resolving the entire case.
