Two rookies, Duke center Dereck Lively and Marquette forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper were added to Dallas’ roster on draft night and the thought of playing alongside Luka Doncic has them pumped.
Slovenian superstar Doncic is undoubtedly one of the brightest stars in the game and Prosper told the media how excited he is to be playing on a team with someone like Luka.
“Luka’s one of the best players in the world,” Prosper said. “Just playing with a guy like that, it’s just amazing. You can learn so much from a guy like that. He’s an unselfish player. He’s a player that loves to pass — loves to create. I’m just excited to be able to play with a guy like that, learn from him, and just complement him. For guys like us, we don’t need the ball in our hands. We’re ready to cut, finish, [or] catch lobs from Luka, all of those things. It’s just exciting to play with a guy like Luka.”
The other rookie, Lively, went one step further and detailed how he and Luka would play on the court together.
“It’s definitely going to get scary whenever I set a really good pick [for Luka], and he gets down the lane,” Lively said. “You’re not going to know if he’s going [to] get a kick-out 3, a floater, get to the rim, or throw it up for a lob…”
The two rookies forged a connection right away, and were happy to know they have partner in one another.
“We’re going through this at the same time,’ Prosper said. “That moment where I saw him, I don’t know it was kind of a spark there. We just connected.”
They will also most likely get to play with Irving, if he decides to stay with the team once free agency begins.
Not a bad start to play alongside two of the best in the game.
Dallas will be aiming to make it out of the regular season and into the post this coming season and with two keen rookies in the mix, it could be a winning combination.
