Mark Jackson will not be calling any games for the MSG Networks this season since the Knicks barred him from their private jet, The New York Post reports.
MSG Networks was going to have Jackson fill in on the odd occasion, but Knicks management shut it down due to an old feud between Jackson and one of their assistants.
“We weren’t able to work something out this season,” an MSG Networks spokesman told The Post.
On Wednesday night, Jackson posted a video to his personal Instagram and claimed that the “lies have got to stop”, seemingly in reference to reports that it was the Knicks decision not to hire him.
“More than a week ago, I turned the job down due to the fact that it wasn’t the ideal conditions and it wasn’t the ideal time for me,” he said.
The Knicks assistant that has a past with Jackson is Darren Erman, who was fired from the Warriors coaching staff by Jackson in 2014 – the head coach of Golden State at the time.
After Erman was fired, ESPN revealed that it was because he was secretly recording conversations between coaches and players.
Jackson himself was fired from the Warriors top job and one day after he was let go, he took a jab at Erman.
“As far as assistants, you have to pick people who are loyal and dedicated,” he said on NBA’s Sirius XM radio station. “It’s inexcusable what the second assistant [Erman] did.”
Many NBA fans thought the long-time commentator was hard done by when he and fellow announcer Jeff Van Gundy were sensationally fired by ESPN in August.
