Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley has showered high praise on young star Paolo Banchero, likening the rookie’s game to a fusion of NBA legends Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, and Jayson Tatum.
In an interview with Michael Scott of HoopsHype, Mosley explained that today’s players have evolved with enhanced skills and basketball IQ, leading to a need for composite comparisons.
He emphasized that Banchero encompasses various aspects from these iconic players, including passing skills, scoring versatility, and physical power.
“Paolo is a combination of Carmelo (Anthony), LeBron (James) and (Jayson) Tatum,” Mosley said. “There are different combinations of things they possess. The passing skills. The ability to score in different areas.”
Banchero’s rookie season was nothing short of spectacular, as he secured the Rookie of the Year title. The top pick of the 2022 NBA Draft averaged 20 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in just under 34 minutes per game.
