LeBron James has very mixed feelings about not being teammates with Kyrie Irving anymore.
James and Kyrie were arguably one of the best duos in the league when they teamed up and won a championship on the Cavaliers.
Just a year removed from their 2016 championship win, Irving requested a trade and was dealt to the Celtics.
To this day, LeBron still laments their time together and wishes he could team up with Kyrie once more.
“I would call Kyrie ‘the wizard’ all the time. There was nothing on the basketball floor that Kyrie couldn’t do, and sitting here watching it, I’m so f**cking happy and so proud and to watch him continue his growth or whatever the case may be, and at the same time, I’m so f**cking mad that I am not his running mate anymore,” James said on Mind the Game Pod w/LeBron James and JJ Redick. “To have a guy like Kyrie Irving as the ultimate wild card, that’s like having a ‘Draw 4′ in your hand every time someone deals you cards in UNO.”
James also went on say that Irving is “the most gifted player the NBA has ever seen.”
The league’s greatest scorer has tried to lure Kyrie to the Lakers multiple times, but it seems as though he’s is very happy at the Mavericks.
He is locked in with Dallas for at least one more season at $41 million, then has a player option for 2025-26 at nearly $44 million.
No doubt the ownership group will do everything they can to keep the duo of Irving and Luka Doncic together, especially if the pair win a championship together this season.
All LeBron can do is watch and ponder the ‘what if’.
