Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis have weighed in on the possibility of the team adding Spencer Dinwiddie to its roster, before the reports of the point guard’s impending signing.
Regarding Dinwiddie’s potential contribution to the Lakers, James emphasized the value of adding another playmaker and shot-maker to the team’s lineup.
“Playmaking, another ball handler, another shot-maker. Another guy, another veteran,” he said, per Dan Woike of Los Angeles Times.
Davis echoed James’s sentiments, praising Dinwiddie’s track record of making significant plays for his previous teams, citing his ability to contribute in crucial moments and make a positive impact on the game.
“Obviously, we’ve seen what he did with Brooklyn, what he did with Dallas making big plays for them. He’s a well-established player,” he said.
Dinwiddie’s anticipated move to the Lakers comes after he cleared waivers with the Toronto Raptors, following a trade deadline deal that sent him to Toronto in exchange for Dennis Schroder and Thaddeus Young. However, Dinwiddie was subsequently waived by the Raptors, paving the way for his free agency status.
Throughout the current NBA season, Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.
