Larry Brown has stepped away from the Memphis men’s basketball program due to health concerns.

The 82-year-old Brown was a special adviser to head coach Penny Hardaway.

“We wish Coach Brown a speedy recovery. Having Coach Brown as part of our program over the last year-and-a-half was very impactful on our student-athletes and me as a coach, and we hope all the best for him and good health moving forward,” said Hardaway in a statement.

The statement added that the health concerns are not considered serious.
