Charlotte Hornets’ guard LaMelo Ball is awaiting the results of an MRI on the left-ankle he injured in his team’s 116-107 pre-season loss to the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
“We talked about whatever the plan is, you have to be on the rehab,” Hornets’ head-coach Steve Clifford said, via Yahoo News.
“The better you are with it, the quicker you will get back. He was disappointed but very upbeat. It’s just part of the NBA.”
Ball, 21, averaged 20.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 7.6 assists last season – and was a first-time all-star.
The Hornets – who are 0-4 in the pre-season – likely won’t have a prayer of making the playoffs if Ball is forced to miss extended time.
Terry Rozier III, who averaged 19.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists last season, could see his usage-rate explode; meaning career high counting stats would almost be certain.
