Last summer the Lakers former their own Big 3 by adding Russell Westbrook next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The blockbuster trade did not bring the desired results as Los Angeles failed to even make the Play-In tournament.

According to a former NBA player Jalen Rose, the Lakers need to add another All-Star next to James and Davis in order to compete for a championship. Specifically, he mentioned Kyrie Irving who has previously played with James in Cleveland and won a title there.

“LeBron wants to be playing in the Finals and LeBron just signed a two-year $97 million deal. You know why? He needed to reinvest in the Lakers so now you can go and try to recruit somebody to come play with you,” Rose said on Jalen & Jacoby.

“And of course the goal is to try to keep Anthony Davis as healthy as possible. But again, if you have those two guys, they still gonna need third player. If that’s a Kyrie Irving caliber player, then I think LeBron James has a chance to win another championship in LA. If it isn’t, he probably won’t. But he already has four.”

In addition, Rose stressed that the player that the Lakers need to add should be this year’s All-Star and not someone who was an All-Star in the past.

“They got to get a player that’s going to be in this year’s All-Star Game to play with them next year. It can’t be like somebody was an All-Star three years ago. So yes in theory, but let me just highlight who in particular – Kyrie.

“It has to be a dynamic player that can play off of LeBron and play off of AD, plus already have chemistry with LBJ. So I believe if that happens, they’re closer to doing it. But let’s not underestimate the West.”
