Lakers ‘Increasingly Unlikely’ To Trade Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers are “increasingly unlikely” to trade Russell Westbrook before the Feb. 9 deadline, a source tell Sam Amick of The Athletic.

This is due to the way Westbrook has become a contributing factor in the Lakers’ improved play. Westbrook has averaged 15.2 points, 7.9 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 turnovers and 28.2 minutes since moving to a sixth man role.

Despite Westbrook’s improved play, the Lakers are plus-4.6 when he’s off the floor compared to minus-3.4 when he’s on.

The Lakers would likely want to move Westbrook and their two available future first round picks for a star, but one is unlikely to come to the trade market.
