Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka has been under heavy criticism from some NBA analysts for the way he assembled this year’s team which failed to even make the Play-In tournament.
Even though it was one of the most disappointing seasons for the purple and gold in the history of the franchise, the executive has the backing of the team owner Jeanie Buss.
In a recent interview she praised Pelinka’s abilities of making basketball decision and expressed confidence that he will put together a team for next season that will return to where it belongs.

Pelinka is apparently going to have at least one more shot to get it right, as Buss still fully supports Kobe Bryant’s former agent, who she put in place shortly after she fired her brother and Kupchak. “In terms of basketball decisions, I have complete confidence in our front office, which is headed by Rob Pelinka,” she said. “He is a person that is extremely smart, extremely strategic, everything he does is thoughtful and with purpose. … I have complete confidence that he can put together a roster and find a coach that is going to get us back to where we belong.”
