Kostas Antetokounmpo, a 2020 NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, made the decision to play in the EuroLeague this season.
TalkBasket.net and Yiannis Bouranis met him in Milano, Italy last week, before the game between Armani and ASVEL Villeurbanne.
Antetokounmpo said he is enjoying his debut season in the EuroLeague and hopes it will help him become a better player and return to the NBA.
“Very happy for my decision, it has been an amazing experience so far and I am excited about the future. I have adapted to that new situation (both in the team and the EuroLeague). I try to do my best in practice every day and I have improved aspects of my game,” the young center told me.
Kostas Antetokounmpo knows his time in Europe will help him accomplish one of his main targets, which is to return to the NBA, where he spent two seasons with the Lakers (2019-2021).
“(My time here) will certainly help me elevate my game and return to the NBA. The game of basketball is different here, so I have to make adjustments and help my team win,” he added.
Antetokounmpo, 24, always finds time to watch his brothers Giannis and Thanasis, who play for the defending NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks.
“I am very happy for Giannis and Thanasis and very proud of what my brothers have accomplished. They work hard and play for a good team. They have the ability to defend their title this season and hopefully they will claim the championship again in June,” Kostas Antetokounmpo said.
In five EuroLeague games with ASVEL Villeurbanne so far, Antetokounmpo has been averaging seven points (78.9% shooting) and 3.4 rebounds in 14 minutes of action.
