Charles Barkley related a story on the Draymond Green Show of how Kobe Bryant nearly joined TNT’s “Inside The NBA” show.
“We actually hired Kobe Bryant at Turner,” said Barkley. “But he didn’t want to do all the other bull—-. This is one of the things that we keep in the closet. He actually signed with us. But then we started telling him ‘I have to do a bunch of radio shows. Hey, I go on this show on Monday. Same thing on Tuesday. Same thing on Wednesday. Same thing on Thursday.’
“He’s like ‘I don’t want to do all that stuff.’
“We said, ‘You have to promote the show, Kobe.’
“There’s probably only 10 people in the world know that. That he actually signed with us and then said ‘I’m not doing all that other bull—-‘ and was like ‘nah.'”
Green asked Barkley to confirm that Bryant was going to be part of the “Inside The NBA” crew and actually signed a deal. Approximately 10 days later, Bryant backed out of the deal because of the promotional obligations.
Bryant instead worked for ESPN with his ‘Detail’ series.
