The New York Knicks have agreed to hire Rick Brunson as an assistant coach on the staff of Tom Thibodeau.
Brunson previously worked for Thibodeau in Chicago and Minnesota. Brunson will fill the role vacated by Kenny Payne’s departure to Louisville.
Brunson was hired by the Timberwolves as an assistant coach in 2016, but he resigned from the team’s staff in 2018 reportedly amid allegations by female employees of inappropriate conduct.
For the past three years, Brunson has been the head coach at Camden High School in New Jersey.
Brunson is also the father of Jalen Brunson, who will be a free agent this offseason.
