Knicks Prioritized Holding Onto Quentin Grimes In Potential Donovan Mitchell Trade

The New York Knicks made it a priority to keep Quentin Grimes in any Donovan Mitchell deal, sources told David Aldridge of The Athletic.

Grimes, who the current Knicks front office drafted, averaged 6.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in his rookie season.

Aldridge added that the Knicks were not necessarily convinced that RJ Barrett was worthy of a contract extension.

That sentiment echoes earlier reports that the team preferred not to give Barrett his extension until at least October.
