Despite being one of the primary offensive options for the Wizards, Poole’s performance has faltered this season, with his statistics experiencing a noticeable decline compared to his time with the Warriors.
In his current campaign with the Wizards, Poole is averaging 15.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, a slight dip from his previous season’s numbers.
Last year with the Warriors he averaged 15.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 30 minutes per game.
ESPN NBA Front Office Insider Bobby Marks highlighted the widespread opinion that Poole’s contract ranks among the league’s most unfavorable deals, indicating that the Warriors may have dodged a bullet with his departure.
“A lot of teams are calling the Jordan Poole contract one of the worst deals in the NBA right now. [The Warriors] caught a break there,” Marks said on 95.7 The Game.
While Poole’s potential remains, his struggles with consistency and performance raise doubts about the wisdom of committing significant financial resources to his tenure with the team.
