Nikola Jokic won back-to-back MVPs leaving the 76ers superstar Joel Embiid without the prestigious award. The Cameroonian center admitted that he knew who was going to be named the MVP weeks ago.
While apparently being frustrated by not getting the award, Embiid admitted that it could have gone either way between several players, saying the the Joker deserved it.
“This is something I knew weeks ago, even probably two weeks before the season ended, after those games against Denver and Milwaukee when [ESPN’s Tim Bontemps] did his straw poll or whatever. I just knew it wasn’t going to happen,” the former number one draft pick admitted.
“Obviously, congrats to Nikola, he deserved it, he had an amazing season. There’s no right or wrong, there was a lot of candidates. It could have gone either way.
“Giannis, Devin Booker being on the best team in the league by far, so I guess every year it’s all about whatever you guys decide, whatever fits the narrative as far as who’s going to win.”
