LeBron James had a goal to play in all of the Lakers’ 82 games this season, but that is looking increasingly unlikely with his current form.
The almost 40-year-old is in the midst of the worst stretch of his career and has missed 19 straight threes over his last four games and since tying Kyle Korver’s three-point record for 7th all-time.
He managed to score just ten points from 4-16 shooting from the field in the Lakers’ ugly 109-80 loss to the Timberwolves on Monday night.
Redick was asked by reporters if James’ plan to play in all 82 games this year is still sustainable.
His answer, “We are measuring the players and we can tell if a guy’s running hot or whatever. He does a remarkable job of taking care of his body and getting recovery.”
He added, “I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us if he does that, but if he’s feeling well and feeling good, then he should play. But we obviously want to manage that as best we can.”
LeBron himself was also asked about his goal, but he wasn’t giving much away.
“That’s a goal, but, we’ll see,” James said. “It’s something I ain’t discussing right now.”
James just doesn’t look to be in his rhythm and looks panicked, even when he has a wide open shot.
He shot 25 percent from the field on Monday – his sixth straight game doing so and his longest streak since 2004, per ESPN’s research and naturally, he isn’t all that happy about it.
“It’s everything,” James said when asked what is frustrating him about his games for the Lakers right now. “It’s the rhythm. I just feel off rhythm the last few, three or four games.”
