Even Jimmy Butler can’t explain his personal ideas about the problematic zigzag progress of the Miami Heat this season.
Following a gut-wrenching defeat against the New York Knicks on Friday, Butler, who dropped 33 markers on a losing effort, aired his own frustrations from the Heat’s ongoing inconsistencies and tough stretches.
“We really get bored with the process and I can’t tell you why,” Butler said in postgame of 120-118 Heat loss against the New York Knicks, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “We play hard and sometimes we get back into the game like tonight and sometimes we don’t.”
The disappointing Friday night marks the fifth time that Miami stumbled out of their last seven games.
For a team that finished at the top-seed of the East last season and was just one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the second time in three years, the Heat has been turning heads around with their lack of irregularities. With a 33-31 record, they are occupying a risky position at the Conference’s seventh-seed and in real danger of further sliding down until the 10th seed.
While they have a solid core trio of Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, the Heat seems lacking of that needed firepower from their supporting cast. Besides, their floor general in Kyle Lowry remains out with knee issues and has missed 11-straight games while having no definite timetable of return.
With 18 games left into their 2022-23 regular season schedule, Miami can only hope that they’ll be able to gradually flip things around and revive their status as a league conteder.
