During the holiday break, Michigan State’s Jeremy Fears Jr. was shot in the leg while at home in Illinois, as stated by the university on Saturday afternoon.
The freshman guard sustained injuries that are not life-threatening and has already undergone surgery, according to the school. However, the specifics of the surgery remain unclear.
“Jeremy underwent surgery this morning and is resting comfortably,” Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. “While there is much we still don’t know, my focus is on supporting Jeremy on his road to recovery.”
