During an appearance on the Petros and Money radio show on AM 570 Los Angeles, Lakers governor Jeanie Buss discussed the team’s decision to appoint J.J. Redick as their new head coach. Although Redick was a seasoned NBA sharpshooter, he doesn’t have extensive coaching experience at the highest level.
“We wanted to kind of think a different way,” Buss said, per HoopsHype. “Really, he’s got a vision. I’m not comfortable talking about the basketball stuff, but we were looking for a candidate that would bring something different and really invest in developing young players.
