After trading Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz have postured that they are not also making Donovan Mitchell available.
Mitchell is signed through 25-26, but he has a player option in which he can become a free agent in 2025.
“Change is inevitable in the NBA. I’m not trying to be cryptic or anything else, but Donovan is on our roster and he’s a very, very important part of what we’re trying to do,” said Justin Zanik. “Things evolve in the NBA, so I couldn’t sit here and say anybody is [untouchable]. We’re trying to build a championship team, but there’s no intent there [to trade Mitchell], at all.”
With the Jazz giving a tepid response on Mitchell’s future with the franchise amid his own trepidation about publicly declaring his preference to remain in Utah, there is widespread speculation around the league that a trade at some point in the future is inevitable.
