Jazz Guard Mike Conley Could Be On the Move, Per Report

Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley could be on the move, per a report from Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune, via Marc Stein.

“I know that the Jazz has talked to teams about Mike Conley,” Jones said.

“I don’t know how much of a market there is remaining for Mike Conley.”

Conley, 34, averaged 13.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 44%/41%/80% shooting splits last season.

However, Conley was ineffective for the Jazz in the 2021-22 NBA Playoffs, averaging just 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 33%/20%/80% shooting splits.

Conley is set to make $22.7 million next season, and at least $14.3 million the season after.

Contenders could use Conley’s talents, but it would be near-impossible for them to make a deal.

The league’s largest traded player exception (~$21 million) – which was created as a result of the CJ McCollum trade – still wouldn’t be big enough to bring Conley in.

It’s possible Conley could be traded, then bought out, but that seems unlikely.

Still, stranger things have happened.
