Jayson Tatum on what message inspired Celtics for total domination of 4th quarter vs Warriors

For the major part of Game 1 of the NBA Finals it seemed that the more experienced Warriors team is control and that it will take the lead. But the Celtics had different plans.

They rallied from being down 12 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter to a 12-point win outscoring the Dubs 40-16 in the final period.

Jayson Tatum, who set the new Finals assists record with 13 dimes, was asked what message was shared among the Celtics players that helped them rally to a late comeback.

Via Tim Bontemps of ESPN:

“The message at the start of the fourth was, ‘We’ve been here before,’” Tatum said. “We know what it takes to overcome a deficit like that.

“Obviously that’s a great team. It’s not going to be easy. But just knowing we’ve been in that situation before and we’ve gotten our self out of it. We had a lot of time left, right? It wasn’t time to hang your head or be done, it was time to figure it out.”
