Jaylen Brown has issued a bold response to missing out on making an All-NBA team this season.
Speaking to the media after he scored 40 points in the Boston Celtics’ Game 2 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Brown made it clear that team success was his priority.
“We’re two games from the Finals, so I don’t have the time to give a f*ck,” he said.
Brown made the All-NBA Second Team last season but had a slight statistical decline this year. He averaged 26.6 points page last season and 23 this season, although he played slightly less this year and shot the ball marginally better.
During his media availability on Thursday, Brown was also asked whether he feels underrated after being snubbed from the All-NBA teams.
“I watch guys get praised and anointed who I feel are half as talented as me on either side of the ball,” he said. “But at this point in my life, I just embrace it. It comes with being who I am and what I stand for, and I ain’t changing that.”
Brown was exceptional for the Celtics in Game 2, finishing with 40 points and five rebounds on 52 percent shooting from the field.
He had 24 points at halftime and carried the load for his team with co-star Jayson Tatum getting off to a slow start.
Boston now appears destined to appear in the Finals with a 2-0 series lead and Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton experiencing hamstring soreness.
