Grant Williams scored 27 points, including hitting 7 3s, as the Boston Celtics eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks 109-81 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The 27 points represents a career high for Williams, with his 7 3s tied for an NBA record for most three-pointers in a Game 7.
“Call him Grant Curry now,” said Jaylen Brown afterwards.
Williams was initially defended by Brook Lopez, who left him open to defend the paint. The Celtics as a team shot 22-of-54 from 3 in Game 7, with the Bucks shooting 4-of-32.
The number represents the largest 3-point differential for a Game 7 in NBA history. In total, the Celtics made 110 3-pointers in the series compared to the Bucks’ 57 – also representing the largest 3-point differential between two teams in a playoff series in NBA history.
The Celtics are making their fourth Eastern Conference finals appearance in six seasons.
Game 1 against the Heat is on Tuesday.
