James Harden’s time with the Nets was short-lived. The former NBA MVP forced a trade from Houston to team up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but ended up forcing another trade – from Brooklyn – just a little over a year later.
There were big hopes associated with the arrival of Harden who formed the bit three with his two fellow superstars, but it didn’t turn out that way.
In a recent interview the 33-year-old shooting guard opened up about his experience with the Nets and why he wanted out so quickly.

“I don’t mean to, like, just down talk to anybody or whatever. It was just, there was no structure and even superstars, they need structure. That’s what allows us to be the best players and leaders for our respective organizations,” he said.
He also made a point that the events of this past offseason with Durant requesting a trade from the Nets further supports his notion that things were not right in Brooklyn, also refuting the notion that Harden is a quitter.
“I just feel like,” Harden continued, “internally, things weren’t what I expected when I was trying to get traded there. I think everybody knows that. And I knew people were going to talk and say, ‘You quit’ and all that stuff, but then the following summer, the other superstar there [Durant] wanted to leave. So it’s like: Am I still the quitter?”
