Desmond Bane is a deserving candidate for this year’s Most Improved Player, that’s why Ja Morant gave him the recognition he also deserves.
Shortly after being named as this season’s MIP on Monday, Morant gave Bane the award he received.
Bane, who finished fifth in the voting race, was all smiles upon being surprised with the trophy in his house.
Morant may have had a gigantic leap this season after averaging a career-high 27.4 points via 49.3 percent efficiency, 5.7 rebounds to go along with 6.7 assists in 33 minutes, but Bane also had his own astounding improvement which can never be denied.
The second-year pro who entered the league as the last first round pick of the 2020 NBA Draft had a career year, averaging 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists while becoming a deadly marksman from the field and an improving two-way swingman. In comparison to his rookie year wherein he had 9.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, Bane definitely made a huge stride in his basketball statistics.
Morant and Bane were two of the factors of the Memphis Grizzlies sudden emergence — finishing with a 56-26 record while occupying the West’ second seed.
