Is Tyler Herro Back? Heat vs. Nuggets Game 3 Finals Preview, Odds & Predictions

Is Tyler Herro Back? Tyler Herro is still OUT with a hand injury for the Heat as they look to host the Nuggets for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The game is expected to tip-off at 08:30 PM ET, Wednesday, June 7th, 2023.

Given that Miami are coming off the back of a big win on the road, it’s surprising they are a 2.5 point underdog, with many expecting Denver to bounce back after an unusual loss at home in Game 2.

MATCH PREVIEW

The Heat are on an impressive run towards an unlikely NBA title, just three wins away from the championship. They stunned the top-seeded Bucks in the Eastern Conference and now face the  Nuggets in the NBA Finals, with the series tied up at 1-1.

Miami’s Game 2 victory in Denver, despite a 15-point deficit, shifted home-court advantage their way. They now have a favorable position with Game 4 also scheduled in Miami, putting them in a position to potentially clinch the series in Denver.

Gabe Vincent of the Heat has emerged as a surprise star, averaging 21 points in the series and displaying impressive shooting skills. Miami’s coach, Erik Spoelstra, praises Vincent’s winning mentality and competitiveness.

However, the Nuggets were disappointed with their Game 2 performance, and their coach, Michael Malone, expressed his frustration with the team’s lack of effort. They acknowledge the need for better energy and a stronger showing in the upcoming games.

Despite a slow start in the series, Jimmy Butler bounced back in Game 2, contributing 21 points and nine assists for the Heat. Butler remains unfazed by his lower shooting efficiency and focuses on the team’s identity and collective strengths. The Heat will be without Herro in Game 3 due to a hand injury, but his potential return is on the horizon as he participates in practice.

ODDS AND PREDICTIONS

The key question in this matchup revolves around Spoelstra’s ability to neutralize the Nuggets’ offense by limiting Nikola Jokic’s passing and forcing him to score. However, it seems unlikely that Spoelstra stumbled upon this strategy out of the blue between Games 1 and 2, considering Jokic’s dominance over the past three years.

It’s plausible that the Heat simply found their shooting rhythm (48.6 percent from three) while Jokic took on a heavier scoring load due to his team’s struggles. Although Miami’s zone defense has been effective, the Nuggets will likely uncover gaps with more time to study and practice against it.

As many initially believed the Nuggets were the superior team, it’s premature to abandon them now. Therefore, it is recommended to choose the Nuggets to win Game 3 and cover the spread.

Spread: Nuggets -2.5

Moneyline: Heat +122, Nuggets -144

Pick: Nuggets -2.5
