Injury update: Expect status change for Alabama basketball’s Derrion Reid before Auburn

It looks like Alabama basketball forward Derrion Reid will get to experience his first Auburn rivalry game after all.

Coach Nate Oats told media on Friday that the freshman would be a “game-time decision,” but told The Field of 68 basketball analyst Jeff Goodman that Reid was “expected to play” on Saturday morning.

A NEW ERA: Can Nate Oats make Alabama a basketball school? Or does football loom too large?

Reid was averaging 7.2 points per game prior to being ruled “game-to-game” by Oats and staff following discomfort after Georgia. The injury journey began in the summer with his ankle and flared up in December to leave him booted for South Dakota State, but Reid hasn’t played consistently since.

Alabama’s bench still holds Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Achilles tendon) and Houston Mallette (knees).
