Iceman George Gervin Endorses Dejounte Murray For the All-Star Game

Even though no players from the San Antonio Spurs were announced as starters for the 2022 NBA All-Star team, Dejounte Murray still has a chance to be added to the West reserves with the incredible season he’s having collecting triple-doubles at a rapid rate.

With Murray finishing eighth in fan voting receiving 307,213 fan votes, and with 24 player votes, a Spurs legend has started speaking out in an attempt to lobby coaches to vote him into the All-Star game as a reserve.

George Gervin recently had an interview with HoopsHype, and he believes Murray should be playing on the final day of All-Star weekend in Cleveland.

“I think he’s an All-Star myself. I think he’s playing in the All-Star range,” Gervin said. “I really do hope. It would be good for him, and it would be good for San Antonio.”

“He’s going to get to that phase where he just knows how to win, He’s unbelievably talented, and I think he’s getting better and better.”

Whether the Spurs legend wishes get granted or not, Murray has done his part by putting up career-high numbers in scoring (19.2), rebounds (8.5), and assists (9.1) in 44 games.

George Gervin, nicknamed “The Iceman” was honored as one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history known for his famous finger roll that stands as one of the most iconic shots still in the game.

“The Iceman” is a nine-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champ who averaged 25.1 points per game over his career. Gervin still has a legacy as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history and still gets compared to the best scorers today.
