The finalists for the vacant head coaching position with the Charlotte Hornets, Kenny Atkinson and Mike D’Antoni, are set to meet with team owner Michael Jordan this week, per a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Atkinson, 55, currently serves as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors.
In four years as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, Atkinson led the rebuilding team to a 118-190 record.
D’Antoni, 71, currently serves as a coaching advisor for the New Orleans Pelicans.
In 16 years as a head coach, D’Antoni posted a 672-527 record.
D’Antoni is also a 2x NBA Coach of the Year award recipient.
The Hornets have a solid core of young talent and veterans – so there should be no excuse going forward for them not to make the playoffs.
Jordan will surely want a head coach ready to take the Hornets to the next step.
