Providing updates on the status of Jimmy Butler, Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson for Game 2.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said on Monday that Butler’s status is still unclear for Tuesday’s matchup after he rolled his ankle in Game 1 and was barely able to move afterwards.
“He’s doing treatment around the clock,” Spoelstra said. “Probably won’t have any update until before the game.”
Butler stayed in Game 1 until there was only 23 seconds left to go but his movement was very restricted.
For their next clash, his teammates will be in the dark until tip-off.
“Just cause you never know,” Heat forward Caleb Martin explained. “Knowing Jimmy, he might mess around and try to play or whatever, not play, we don’t know yet. So we’ll see what type of shape he’s in with that ankle. But we’ll be ready for whatever.”
Butler is currently listed as questionable.
Meanwhile, Knicks fans might be upset to learn that two of their best players in Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson are listed as questionable.
Randle missed Game 1 due to a left ankle sprain so it seems he hasn’t quite recovered from that yet, which isn’t too surprising.
Bruson’s injury on the other hand, is a bit of a surprise. He apparently injured his right ankle in the first game against Miami and is dealing with soreness, but the severity of the injury is currently not known.
Heat vs. Knicks will take place on Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30PM ET.
