The Charlotte Hornets are open to trading their wing player, Gordon Hayward, who is currently on a $31.5 million expiring contract. There is a chance that Hayward might be traded.
Alternatively, teams are keeping an eye on Hayward as a potential candidate for a buyout. However, due to the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, teams above the tax apron face restrictions in signing him since Hayward’s salary exceeds the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception.
Among the teams currently exceeding the tax apron are the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, LA Clippers, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns.
