Giannis Antetokounmpo exited the Bucks-Celtics game on Tuesday after a non-contact injury and Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers has provided an update on his condition.
During the second half of the game, Giannis went down on the floor after no contact and was clutching at his calf.
He limped back to the locker room unassisted but was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The team reported that Giannis suffered a left calf strain, but Rivers confirmed during his postgame interview that their star player will also undergo an MRI.
He also spoke about the level of concern with Antetokounmpo’s injury coming right before the postseason begins.
“That’s a good question,” Rivers said. “High. But he’s Giannis. I think everyone probably feels the same way as I do right now. We’re just going hope for the best.”
Milwaukee got the 104-91 win over Boston and snapped their four-game losing streak.
The franchise opted to start Patrick Beverley over Malik Beasley in the win, which seemed to help their offense.
But if Giannis misses significant time in the postseason, the Bucks may struggle to make a deep playoff run.
As it stands, the Bucks are set to face the Sixers in the first round, who recently got back reigning MVP Joel Embiid from injury.
