Facundo Campazzo remains unsigned, but the veteran point guard hasn’t given up hopes of landing an NBA deal. Campazzo’s deal with the Denver Nuggets expired at the end of last season. Denver elected to non-tender Campazzo, which made him an unrestricted free agent.
Real Madrid has made it known that they would welcome Campazzo back to the club. For now, Campazzo remains focused on landing an NBA deal.
“I want to stay, I think I showed that I can compete when I’m at my best, when they give me confidence and I feel part of the rotation. In fact, I was the starter during my first Playoffs in every game except the last one, and in I played a lot in regular season,” Campazzo said. “I’m not saying no to Real Madrid. What I am saying is that my attention and my energy is focused on the NBA. It’s my first option.”
In the immediate, Campazzo is focused on playing with the Argentinian National Team this summer. Campazzo plans to play with Argentina in FIBA World Cup qualifiers against Canada and the Bahamas. The 31-year-old point guard will then compete in the Americup in Brazil. After that, Campazzo hopes to return for another run at the NBA.
