Draymond Green reportedly “wants” and believes he is deserving of a four-year max contract extension, sources told Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic.
Green will be eligible for the extension on August 3.
The forward, who will make $25.8 million next season, has a player option in 2023-24. Green could opt out and sign a four-year extension, which would be worth $138.4 million.
The Warriors currently have no plans to offer Green the max extension, according to reports. The Athletic adds that Steph Curry would be unhappy should the team lose Green because they did not want to pay him.
Green is willing to explore “outside options” to receive a deal closer to what he’s looking for.
Green would be 37 years old at the end of his desired extension.
