Golden State Warriors center Draymond Green does not want to be compared to Rudy Gobert and made it clear that there’s no love lost between the two of them when he joined the live TNT broadcast during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game.
Compared to the Utah Jazz center and Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo from a defensive standpoint, Green got defensive in another fashion.
“You keep mentioning me in the same sentence with him. We are not alike,” he fired back.
Kenny Smith would ask whether he meant Mutombo or Gobert.
“Who you just mentioned me with and I ain’t say Mutombo,” the Dubs star replied. “We ain’t nothing alike.”
Green has been pretty critical of the Frenchman in the past. Last season, he claimed to be a more valuable player than Gobert due to his defensive versatility.
“I think what [Gobert] does on the defensive side of the ball is incredible,” he offered back then. “I think the way he protects the rim is incredible. But defense is more than just protecting the rim.”
