Doc Rivers: Sixers Still ‘Wait And See’ On Whether Joel Embiid Will Return For Game 3

Doc Rivers said that Joel Embiid’s status for a Game 3 return was still up in the air following the Philadelphia 76ers’ 119-103 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 2.

The Sixers are now down 2-0 in the series.

“I really don’t know … he looked good, as far as talking. But he’s got so many steps to go through, and I don’t think he’s cleared any of them right now. So we just have to wait and see,” said Rivers.

The Sixers were outrebounded 44-34 in the loss, with the Heat scoring 21 second chance points. DeAndre Jordan, who started in Embiid’s place, finished with 6 points in 13 minutes.

Erik Spoelstra warned that the series would change considerably should Embiid return.

“It changes dramatically. You’re talking about MVP talent, you know? So we’ll just have to see. We knew that this series was going to shift, and it was going to change pretty dramatically [if he returns],” said Spoelstra after the game.
