For now, Doc Rivers is seizing his coaching hiatus as he continues to live his personal life to the fullest.
Rivers was recently spotted by TMZ and admitted that he got no idea yet on where he would land next in terms of his basketball career as a mentor.
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do,” Rivers said. “I’m just gonna enjoy life… I just enjoy life.”
The Philadelphia 76ers dismissed Rivers this offseason after three seasons of their collaboration. Despite the fact that Rivers compiled an impressive 154-82 regular season coaching for them from 2020 to 2023 with superstar Joel Embiid at his side, he wasn’t able to ultimately lead them in reaching even the Eastern Conference Finals — the stage that the franchise hasn’t touched yet since the 2000-01 campaign.
Rivers have drawn coaching interest from the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks, but he ultimately didn’t land any openings this summer. As such, he may consider going back in a broadcast gig similar to his one-year stint for ABC last 2003-04 campaign.
