Devin Booker Addresses Report About Relationship With Mike Budenholzer

Devin Booker has reacted to the report that Phoenix coach Mike Budenholzer told him that he’s ‘too vocal’. The coach himself has also addressed the news.

NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that a few weeks back, Budenholzer told Booker he was being “too vocal on the court and during timeout huddles,” telling Book to “tone it down” and allow the coaches’ voices “to be heard.”

Haynes added that Boker was “shocked” by the request.

Booker was asked about it after Sunday’s morning shootaround.

“Nah, Coach said it, too,” Booker said, via AZ Central.

“We’ve had multiple conversations. I can’t seem to find one that sticks out more than the others. It’s a player/coach relationship. When things start going bad, everybody tries to point fingers to find out what’s wrong. People are going to come up with stuff. The relationship is great. We’re on the same page, we’re trying to win and that’s that.”

Budenholzer also addressed the report before Friday’s home win over the Pelicans, which ended a three-game losing streak for the team.

“Devin and I have lots of conversations,” Budenholzer said when asked if he recalls this conversation between Booker and himself. “I think it’s super healthy. Internally, some of this stuff have been shared with me. Usually I’m naive or in a cave, but Devin’s care factor is off the charts.”

Booker is in his tenth NBA season and has certainly become more vocal with the Suns as his career has progressed.

“Just experience,” Booker said. “Knowing what works and what doesn’t and I’m not saying only one thing works. There’s multiple teams at the top of the NBA right now that are playing different styles of basketball. There’s not one way that works, but everybody definitely has to be on the same page.”
