Kings clutch shooter De’Aaron Fox fractured the tip of his left index finger in Game 4 v Warriors and will be listed as doubtful for Wednesday’s Game 5.
Unfortunately, the fracture is on his shooting hand but there’s still optimism that he will try to play on Wednesday, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
If the 25-year-old did take the court next game, he would need to play with a protective covering on his finger.
The injury reportedly occurred in the middle of the fourth quarter on Sunday and he played through the injury as it was a tight game, which the Kings ended up losing by one point (126-125).
Fox finished the night with 38 points, nine rebounds and five assists and has undoubtedly been one of the Kings’ best players throughout this first round, even though it’s his first-ever playoffs experience.
He has also averaged 31.5 points, seven assists and six rebounds in the four games of the 2023 playoffs and leads the team in points, assists and is second in rebounds in the postseason.
Fox is so clutch, he actually won the inaugural Clutch Player of the Year award, so if he is unable to compete in Wednesday’s game, it will be a big loss for the Kings.
The Warriors-Kings series is tied up at 2-2 as it returns to Sacramento, after Golden State notched their first two wins at home on April 20 and April 23.
He joins Ja Morant, Mason Plumlee and Jaylen Brown as the latest NBA player to suffer and or reaggravate a finger / hand injury in the first round of the playoffs.
