Late in the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Russell Westbrook was on the bench for the Lakers. Lost Angeles coach Darvin Ham was blunt when asked if he was concerned about how Westbrook would take the benching.
“We don’t have time for people to be in their feelings,” said Ham.
With just under 30 seconds left, and the Lakers holding a lead, Westbrook took a pull-up mid-range jumper. Westbrook said he was looking to make sure Los Angeles would have a 2-for-1 opportunity. Ham didn’t find fault with that, but said he wished Westbrook would have “attacked the rim directly”, as opposed to pulling up.
With the loss, the Lakers feel to 0-3 on the young season. The Trail Blazers improved to 3-0.
