Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic says that he actually got a chance to watch Steph Curry with USA’s U19 team back in 2007.
(via Toronto Raptors):
Reporter: “As a basketball person, how big a fan are you of Steph Curry?”
Rajakovic: “As a basketball person, I love him. As a coach, I hate playing against him. He’s just amazing in every single aspect. Actually a couple of years ago I had the chance to watch Steph Curry play in the World Cup Under 18 (actually was Under 19) in Serbia. They ended up being second, Serbia won in the finals, just saying. But even at that time, he was outstanding. I was in contact with his coach Bob McKillop from college, and a couple of years ago he sent me an email saying like, ‘Oh, look at this, what you said about Steph Curry.’ I completely forgot about it, but I was raving about him, talent, shooting, and whatnot. I did not see this type of career coming obviously, but he was always talented, always capable to shoot the ball, always capable to change the game with everything he does. I really don’t know where the motor is coming from, like I see all the skill, but every single night teams are trying the best defenders and best coverages and to make it really hard, and he always finds a way to be efficient and to contribute.”
