The NBA has levied a $15,000 fine against Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell for a post-game transgression, the league announced.
The punishment stems from Russell kicking the game ball into the spectator stands following the Lakers’ thrilling double-overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors on January 27 at Chase Center.
The disciplinary action was confirmed by Joe Dumars, the Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations for the NBA.
Dumars stated that Russell’s conduct, specifically the act of kicking the game ball into the spectator stands, violated league rules, warranting the financial penalty.
